Where can you change your partner?

Choose a partner during initial setup, then visit the Partner Room in the Photo Studio when you want to change. The Game Pad’s Partner menu shows your available characters and special clothing. A character appearing somewhere in Party Land does not automatically mean that character is already a selectable partner.

How does friendship increase?

The manual describes small increases from playing or chatting with the character. Read the stars as a relationship indicator rather than inventing an exact number of conversations per level. At sufficiently high friendship you may receive special clothing; inspect the Partner menu and its Friends area when a new set is awarded.

What is the confirmed Badtz-Maru requirement?

Play Blooming Flower Festival to make Badtz-Maru available as a partner, according to the board-game section of the manual. This page does not extend that example into an unsupported list of requirements for every partner. Check the current available list after the activity before concluding that another purchase is needed.
